Bystrianska cave is the most important cave of the area known as Horehronské podolie located in central Slovakia. It is well known thanks to the remarkable rock shapes, interesting developments in underground spaces, the occurrence of flowstone fills and favorable climate for speleotherapeutical treatment.

Located in the Bystriansko - valaštiansky carst in the southern part of the Low Tatras. The cave was formed in the Middle Triassic dark gray limestone.

The direction of cave passages substantially predetermined steep tectonic faults. The cave reaches a length of 2,300 m and vertical span 92 m.

It was created in several stages by submersible waters of Bystrianka stream into the karst area of the southern slopes of the Low Tatras.

Spaces of Bystrianska cave include Old and New Cave, where was made ​​accessible 490 m. Of flowstone fills are present in the cave mainly  stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, wall waterfalls and flowstone lakes.

Incidence of aragonite is present, which creates small, eccentric shapes.
The air temperature in the Bystrianská cave is 5.7 to 6.7 ° C, relative humidity 92-98 %.

Thanks to the therapeutic effect of aerosol in the cave air is one the hall s used for unique treatment of chronic allergic and respiratory diseases.

In the cave have been so far found eight kinds of bats that are staying here especially durin winter. In its present form Bystrianska cave was made accessible from 1968.
