High Tatras are the highest Slovak mountains and as well the highest part of the whole Carpathian arc. High Tatras have many peaks with altitudes over 2000 m (Gerlach, Lomnický, Kežmarský, Jahňací štít, Rysy, Končistá, Kriváň). The  highest point is Gerlach with a height of 2655 m.

Although Tatras can be considered alpine landscape, high mountains designation can not be attributed to them, because there is no permanent glacier here. Nevertheless, it can be considered unique mountains with many natural and tourist attractions to discover, where you can plan a longer holiday.

Although the holiday in the High Tatras in our people instinctively raises rather luxurious and expensive form of rest and relaxation, but cheap holiday in the Tatras is not impossible. As a tip can be recommended, for example, ATC camp in Štrba, which is nice and inexpensive base for your forays into the mountains.

High Tatras were already long been the aim of recreational activities and sports such as hiking, skiing, alpine skiing and climbing. Currently, there is built well marked network of hiking trails, ski resorts, spas and similar holiday facilities in the surrounding towns and villages such as Poprad, Kežmarok, Tatranská Lomnica, Štrbské Pleso, Starý and Nový Smokovec and so on.

This mountain range is also known thanks to its numerous and romantic mountain chalets - Chata pod Soliskom, Popradské pleso mountain hotel, Chata pod Rysmi, Skalnatá Chata, Téryho Chata, Zbojnícka Chata or Chata pri Zelenom Plese. High Tatras mountain chalets will make your holiday better through their hospitality.
