Demänovská Cave of Liberty is a natural monument, discovered in 1921. The cave was made accessible to the public three years later. After further discoveries of other underground spaces the accessible area was extended several times.
Demänovksá Cave is connected with the whole system of caves in the valley, including Demänovska ice Cave. The total length of underground spaces of Cave of Liberty is an impressive 8162 m. Throu the cave lead two routes - traditional (1150 m, it takes 60 min.) and exclusive (2150 m, and takes about 100 min.). Vertical drop is the same 86 m, exactly 1118 steps. The average temperature in the cave is 6.1 to 7 °C.
You can get to the cave via the winding road that leads from the parking place or from the bus stop. It is about 400 meters long with a total climb of 67 m. The hike takes about 15 minutes. Along the way is prepared interestin information trail, which will introduce you to the karst area in Slovakia and its nature variety.
In the cave you will see a unique flowstone with stalactites, underground river Demänovka, typical karst lakes and river modeled passages. Demänovská Cave of Liberty is morphologically most varied part of this cave system. Discover the beauty of this cave during your vacation in Slovakia.
