If you are the adventurous nature and would like to try caving with original gear during your trip to Slovakia head out to the Cave of Dead Bats in Low Tatras.

Available is a variety of cave routes, depending on the difficulty. Dead Bats Cave is located in the middle of the central part of the Low Tatras in Ďumbier mountain karst in relatively high altitude of 1750 m.

Access to the cave is from the southern side from the village Bystrá by car, or bus from Podbrezová direction Trangoška and Srdiečko.

Ascent to the cave from Trangoška continues via trail to Štefániks mountain chalet under Ďumbier peak for about an hour. Access is also possible from Liptov over the main ridge of the above mentioned mountain range.

The cave is located in a limestone massif of Kozí chrbát with a length of 2 km and a width of 300 m. It hides a number of passages inside the known 14 floors and the two of parallel branches.

Especially attractive is the appearance of lens of agates with white and pink shades. The attractions include the presence of large amounts of bat bones, according to which the cave was named. Their age is estimated to be 6,000 years.
