Sĺňava Reservoir is one of the most famous recreational and holiday areas in Slovakia and is located near the town of Piešťany. There are two camping grounds available here - Sĺňava and Lodenica, or also several guesthouses and hotels, sports equipment rentals and other ancillary services.
From water sports you can try windsurfing, water skiing, canoeing, sailing or boating.
The popular attractions include events in Ratnovce, where the water-ski lift is located. However, the most popular is the kayaks race and late August world championships in water skiing behind a motorboat.
Around the Sĺňava dam is built a twelve kilometer long asphalt road available for pedestrians and cyclists.
Another important point of Sĺňava is artificially constructed bird island. This island is a protected nature reservation registered on the UNESCO list.
