Slovak Karst is a relatively young National Park - declared in 2002. It is one of the largest karst areas in Europe and falls under the protection of UNESCO as part of the World Heritage List, which clearly is shaping it into one of the most beautiful places to spend holiday in Slovakia.

Slovak Karst is located south of the town of Rožnava towards the Hungarian border. The highest point of this area is the hill called Pipítka - 1225 m.

The National Park Slovak Karst is very suitable for hiking. Several nature trails can be found here. The most interesting places include karst plateaus with steep walls around as Zádielská, Jasovská, Koniarska or Silická plateau.

As it is a karst area, ​​the main attraction of this part of Slovakia are many caves - Gombasecká, Domica, Ochtiná and Jasovská Cave. A lot of abysses can be found here. The deepest is called Kunia abyss with a depth of 220 m. The most interesting places can be classified Zádielská dolina canyon with a length of approx. 3 km and Turňa Castle, or the largest karst lake in the country - Jašteričie Lake.

During your holiday you can also go for swimming. In the area there are opportunities to swim in Betliar, Šafárikovo and Rožňava.
