Vihorlatské hills, may not be popular as High or Low Tatras, but still provide an ideal place for vacation and relaxation. These volcanic mountains are located in eastern Slovakia near Zempínska šírava water reservoir and are relatively well preserved in its original form.

Above the surrounding Východoslovenská plain the mountain range rises to a height of about thousand meters. The highest point is Vihorlat - 1075 m. Most important peaks include Nežabec, or Sninský Kameň.

The mountains are covered with deciduous forests, and partialy rainforest-like areas. Vihorlatské hills are popular for its volcanic lakes as Kotlík, Morské Oko and Malé Morské Oko.

Tourist attractions are well accessible via marked hiking paths. Vihorlat provides good opportunities for winter sports, especially cross-country and downhill skiing in the resorts Snina, Koromla, and Porúbka.

Water and other summer sports are centralized in Zemplínska Šírava and Vinianske lake. In winter the mentioned lake is suitable for recreational skating.
