Experience holiday and relax in a mysterious and forgotten mountain range of Vtáčnik. This mountain range is of volcanic origin, composed of andesite. Its main ridge extends from the mining town of Handlová to village of Veľké Pole in lenght of approximately 30km.

The highest peak of these interesting and not crowded mountains is 1,346 meters high peak of Vtáčnik. Other major peaks include Kláštorská skala, Jarabá skala, Buchlov and Žarnov.

The mountains are covered with deciduous forests and a high number of forest animals live here.

Interesting for hikers can be crossing of Vtíčniks main ridge, which takes one to two days. Climb to the top of Vtáčnik provides nice panoramic view of the wide surroundings.

Tourism and holidays in Vtáčnik offers the possibility of great hiking in preserved, untouched nature, beyond the mass- visited areas. Vtáčnik is extraordinary nice in winter. The mountain range is also interesting for climbers. Local climbing sites include Hrádok and Veľký Grič.
