Muráň Plateau National Park is one of quite a few visited areas in Slovakia, though its natural wealth may offer a lot to its visitors.

Nature here is a very little touched by human activities, and this area is one of the best preserved in Slovakia. This national park, declared in 1997, consists of extensive karst area (number of caves is about 150, the longest cave system is Bobačka approx. 2221 m) and is located in the western part of the Slovak Rudohorie near the towns of Brezno and Revúca.

Natural heritage of Muráň Plateau represent besides caves especially sinkholes, rock formations and forests. The highest point is 1439 m high Fabova Hoľa. There is also a network of hiking trails in place, overnight is possible in haylofts.

Around the trails is an abundance of drinking water sources and places where you can put fire. Problems can occur with restocking, because usually it is necessary to go down to the nearest village, which represents overcoming a bigger drop.

Flora and fauna here is characterized by endemic species. The main attractions are the castle ruins above the village Muráň, where is built am information trail as well.
