Zemplínske Museum is located since 1957 in Baroque - Classical mansion in Michalovce among the most valuable architecture in the territory of Michalovce.

The manor house was built in the Renaissance period in the foundations of a medieval lowland water castle. The last owner of the property was Stáraj family , who owned the mansion from the 2nd third of the 18 century until 1944. Among the members of this family line can be found several significant personalities. Especially Irma Stárajová, court lady to Empress Elizabeth, called Sissi, in the whose arms after the assassination the Empress died.

Zemplínske Museum has 5 permanent exhibitions. The pride of the archaeological collections in addition to gold trimmings of Veľké Raškovce is the amphora from the Bronze Age with the earliest representation of the two-wheel chariot drawn carriage in Central Europe from the same site.

Historical exposition documents the housing of the aristocracy and bourgeoisie in the late 19th to early. 20th century A gem of ethnographic exposition are mainly products of potters from Pozdišovce with over 500 years long tradition.

In the area of the art history the museum owns and exhibits the most complete lwork collection of painter Teodor Jozef Moussona in Slovakia, who in the years 1911 - 1944 lived and worked in Michalovce.

Permanent exhibition of natural history is installed at the so-called stables. It presents 243 kinds of birds and 49 species of mammals, which are grouped by species.

In the museum are located the foundations of Rotunda - Romanesque sacral building. Near the museum is situated the Roman Catholic parish church of the Virgin Mary from 13 century and Greek Catholic Parish Church.
