Slovak Technical Museum in Košice as the only one of its kind in Slovakia systematically collect, evaluates and uses for educational purposes tangible evidence of the development and the exact sciences from all over Slovakia.

The museum manages rich collections of selected technical and scientific disciplines in their historical development. It initiates care of selected monuments of science, technology and production in Slovak Republic, provides professional assistance in rescuing and restoring these monuments.

It documents share of Slovakia and its personalities - Prof. Dr. Ing. Aurel Stodola and Jozef Maximilián Petzval, who contributed to the development of world science and technology. Profile of the museum formed since 1948, when it was opened to the public.

Establishment of the Slovak Technical Museum has historically proved to be fully justified. Slovakia in its development was one of the most industrialized areas of Hungary. Thanks to mineral resources mining, processing and metallurgy Slovakia consulted in the development of technology among the leading European countries.

Based on the rich history raised the need to preserve and document the progressive technics tradition. During its existence the museum gathered more than 14,000 collections. Many of them have a unique and irreplaceable value both in terms of the development of science and for presentation work.

Facilities of the valuable and extensive collections of the museum is the foundation for building specialized expositions, permanent exhibition sets and short presentation exhibitions.

Included in the collections are mining, metallurgy, blacksmithing, engineering, electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, photographic and cinematographic apparatus, geodesy and cartography, watches, astronomy.
