Spa Sklené Teplice is situated at the foot of Štiavnické hills in an idyllic valley through which flows the stream of Teplá. Artificial deep boreholes and wells to a depth of 1,600 meters are being used here as well.
These spa are the most important spa of the so-called volcanic belt. Cave bath "Parenica" is unique in European scales. Thermal springs emanate directly into the cave and with the temperature of 42 ° C heat the cave pool.
The village and Spa Sklené Teplice is situated in a valley of Teplá stream in Štiavnicke hills near Banská Štiavnica. The name Sklené Teplice comes from a glassworks manufactory that already existed in r. 1340 over here and hot mineral springs, which are first mentioned in the 16th century.
Construction of Sklené Teplice Spa resort began in the 17th century. In the 18th century were already known a spa town. In 1788 first international congress of naturalists – geologists was situated here. The current spa buildings are built in the classic style of the period 1835-1848.
