Spa Smrdáky is a very specific spa located 80 km northwest of the capital of Slovakia - Bratislava.
Their specialty is the treatment of skin diseases especially in combination with musculoskeletal diseases using the unique natural wealth - hydrogen sulphide mineral water and sulfur mud.
Hydrogen sulphide mineral water
This mineral water contains high amounts of therapeutically effective hydrogen sulphide (680 mg/l). These values classified Smrdáky mineral water to most concentrated hydrogen sulfide waters in Europe.
Mineral water is known by a characteristic odor and unusual effects in the treatment of especially skin diseases. It as well contains minerals and salts - in particular on the basis of Na, Mg and Ca (3400 mg/l) which positively contribute to the therapeutic effect.
Sulphurous mud
Peloid during hydrogen sulphide water leaks through the loess soil of this area. Highly efficient sulfur peloids are used as a medical device in the form of wraps on the joints and spine.
