Zoo Bojnice - good tip for a trip during holiday in Slovakia - was founded in the natural environment of the beautiful castle complex in the vicinity of Bojnice castle and Spa. The life of the Zoo begins in 1951, with a collection of animals from surrounding areas, based on the local fauna.

Even this low number of animals aroused such interest among visitors that some begin to talk about establishing a Zoo - the first in Slovakia.

At the inception of this zoo founders were faced with some difficulties in obtaining the space, but as well material to start to build the Zoo. Thanks to understanding by the local administration of the baths, some natural environment is made free for the creation and establishment of the Zoo in 1953-54. This garden has been open to visitors since 1955, when it was visited by more than 50,000 people.

At the entrance to Bojnice Zoo welcome all visitors screaming peacocks, lake water birds, playful monkeys, bears, aviaries with predator birds, predator pavilions, runs for forest animals, camel, zebras, Przewalski's horses, bisons, exotic sheeps, goats and lamas.

Pavilion "Vivarium" offers seeing to 2000 fishes living in aquariums, several crocodiles and exotic reptiles, but as well domestic.

Bojnice Zoo is included in I. category and its area is 30 hectares. The pride of this garden is the breeding of several mammalian species: bison, buffalo, antelope, Przewalski's horses.

Furthermore, birds such as emu brown, golden pheasant, mandarin duck, peacock and silky hen are bred here. Reptiles are represented by Paraguayan anaconda.

For the rest of adults and children play there is a playground with swings and slides available here. Bojnice Zoo is really for everyone - children, teenagers and adults, so it can be recommended as a good tip for a trip to relax during your holiday in Slovakia.
