Rožňava is an important administrative center. The Slaná river flows through the city. Řožňava has been affected by mining, particularly gold mining, which the city owes economic development. In the city has still preserved historic footprint and also many sights.  The city center is formed by Námestie Baníkov square. Here is located the city tower and the baroque church of 17 century. In addition, valuable baroque cathedral and the Franciscan church and monastery, as well as Bishops residence is located here. Valuable sight is as well the town hall building. Mining exposure can be viewed  in the Mining Museum. Rožňava is also the entry point to the Slovak Karst.
