Zemplínska Šírava Reservoir is well known recreational area in eastern Slovakia and it is one of the classic vacation destination of the country. It is located near the town of Michalovce. It belongs to the warmest areas and it is the second largest water area in Slovakia. In the northern part of the reservoir are situated the main vacation centers Kaluža and Hôrka.

Water Reservoir Zemplínska Šírava is the second largest water area in Slovakia and 12. largest lake area in Europe. Its 33 km2 surface is located in the very eastern Slovakia - 4,5 km from the picturesque town of Michalovce and 63 km east of Košice.  Twelve kilometers long beach and cruise ships are the main attractions here. A sail around the dam takes 45 minutes.

Zemplínska Šírava and its surroundings are one of the hottest places in Slovakia. The surrounding area is mountainous and covered with vineyards, there are many hiking and biking trails available here. The actual water area provides many options of water sports such as jet-ski, boat or water banana ride.

In addition to significant recreational function Zemplínská Šírava, serves as a protected ornithological reservation, which is established in its eastern part. The western part is used as a place of water sports and fishing.
