Village Krásnohorske Podhradie is especially famous for its beautiful Krásna Hôrka castle. It is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Slovakia. The castle is located on a hill above the mentioned village and was built in the early 14th century as the residence of the noble family Bebek. In the 16th century the castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance fortress. In 1817 the castle burnt down, but was rebuilt and its owners – the Andrássy family established a museum here. There is also a glass coffin with the mummified remains of Žofia Serédy - the main character of the novel White lady of Levoča, that was written by M. Jókai. She was the wife of General Stephen Kuruc Andrassy. In the nerby park a mausoleum with remains Dionysus and Frances Andrassy is located.
